Trent is a shy little monkey and I am bound and determined to break him of this. Thus, I enrolled him in an under 2 years old gymnastics class at a place called Tumbleweeds. We went to our first class this morning and he LOVED it!
At first, he wanted nothing to do with any of it. He was much more interested in exploring the gym than in participating in the class but after a little while, he warmed up and started to play. After the warm-up, the adorable teacher busted out some small games that were mean to build coordination. For instance, there was a large stack of of those plastic champagne glasses and the kids had to stack them as high as they could. When it was his turn, he stared a the glasses for a second and then he began to grab one at a time and stack them with ease. When he was finished he looked at the teacher like, "Puulleassse! Give me a challenge, lady."
Next, he was supposed to roll/flip really large (I'm talking, huge blocks that were much bigger than the kids) blocks. He flipped them a few times and became bored. He decided it was much for fun to pick them up and throw them as far as he could like He-Man. He would strain and grunt to lift them and then throw them to the side. It was pretty cute.
His favorite activity by far was the trampoline, bit the big round one and the long skinny one. He was jump and jump and then fall onto his bottom, laugh, and then get it up and do it all over again. He needs to work on walking on the balance beam and his hanging skills (which is odd because he loves to hang from our pull-up bar but he refused to do it today) but he really enjoyed it. In fact, he loved it so much that he threw the world's largest tantrum when it was time to leave...I mean, he kicked and screamed and just flipped out. Good thing we got the unlimited package so he has lots of time to enjoy himself. We will go to the morning class tomorrow and then I think that I'll make Mark take him on Saturday morning so that he can see exactly what he's paying for :)
Hopefully, he'll make some friends from this group which included a surprising number of little boys. Maybe I'll even make a new friend or two as well!
