I hope that everyone had a wonderful and fun New Year's Eve last night. As for me, I fell asleep on the couch around 10:15 and was awoken by my husband when the clock struck twelve. I tried my hardest to stay awake and watch the new Batman with him but my head was a bobbin and I just couldn't make it. It's a sad, sad day when a thirty-year-old can't stay awake to celebrate! I maintain however, that I'm so tired because of the pregnancy and I'm sticking to that story :)
Last weekend, Mark's best friend Chris, his wife Kristen and their two children drove up from Vegas to hang out with us and we had so much fun. Every time we see them, we realize how much we miss them and what wonderful people they really are.
To start, they are such great friends...truly, wonderful friends. They are those few people you want to keep in your life because you know they would do anything for you. They are also the best parents I have ever seen! Mark and I are amazed at how well behaved their kids are and we kept saying that it was such a relief for Trent to be around kids who understand that he is just a little booger and who share and are so gentle with him! Their kids played with Trent the entire time and he loved it! He was hugging them both by the time they left on Monday and he even tried to sneak in kiss or two. Mark and I kept saying how we want to be parents like them and we both took lots of notes on how they do it!
Anyhow, we had lots and lots of laughs with Chris and Kristen and we all had a great time sledding in Tahoe. It was wonderful to hang out with old friends who we can laugh and laugh with.
After they left yesterday, Mark was on a mission to buy a new car. My Jeep isn't even two years old yet but he has had it stuck in his head these last few weeks that we need a bigger car with the new baby coming. Thus, he packed us in the car and said that we were going for a test drive. Once he asked me if I had my checkbook in my purse and I saw him emptying the Jeep of all of its contents, I knew he was planning on doing more than going for a test drive.
Long story short, three hours later, we were signing papers for a new car. Why in the world does it take so long to buy a car? Mark had already negotiated a price with this dealership weeks earlier and it still took over three hours. By the way, buying anything big with my husband who works with numbers for a living is a nightmare!! He bleeds people dry and the salesman told us numerous times how he "loves us but hates us sooo much" and this is all because Mark is one tough negotiator! I still maintain that he's the reason why we took over two years to find out house but back to the car...
The first hour, Trent was pretty good. The second hour, he started to get restless and grumpy. By the third hour, he was a flipping nightmare and I cannot say that I blame him. When the finance guy called us into his office, I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I kept telling Trent that it would only be a few more minutes. Thankfully, he liked the finance man and I think it was because he looked a lot like my older brother. Trent was sitting on a chair, drawing on a piece of paper Mr. Finance gave him when I began to sign the paperwork. As I was reading and signing, the office becomes very quiet. Suddenly, Trent rips the loudest fart ever and then says, "Ahhhhhh." The look of relief of his face was priceless but I was so embarrassed. Mr. Finance acted as if he didn't hear it so I just kept right on signing. And then, Trent let another one rip. Mark and I looked at each other and tried not to laugh as I excused Trent for his poor behavior. My child's gas did lighten the mood, for which I was grateful because I was getting ready to punch myself in the face if I had to sit there any longer.
Needless to say, we have a new Durango Citadel which Mark loves. He already keeps asking me if I love my new car which I find kind of funny because he was the one who wanted it in the first place but I have to admit, it is pretty nice and he is very happy with it.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful 2013 and that it is even better than 2012. I know that this is going to be our most exciting year yet and I cannot wait to see what it holds for my family.
Cheers!!
